Too Much

Lights, sounds, sweets!  Too much. For the first few weeks after my surgery I could not tolerate really bright lights, loud sounds and sweet foods.  Also, coffee. There was a very bright light above my bed that the nurses would turn on when they came in the room, every time.  It was excruciating for a while. I prefer light and was glad that this symptom went away as well as my disdain for loud noises. Unfortunately my love of sweets came back.  I know that candy corn is not for everyone, but I had stashed some away for the holidays and ended up giving it away because I just couldn’t eat it. That was a sad day, although it would be better for me if I still did not like to eat so much candy! Almost 1 ½ years later I am starting to drink a bit more coffee.  I used to drink at least two cups a day. My husband would stop at Starbucks (in the hospital) on the way into my room each day, one day early on he brought me coffee and I took one sip and could not drink it. I have tried several times since then and can now occasionally drink a small cup in the morning. I am not looking to get back to two cups a day, I don’t think coffee is particularly healthy, but it is nice to drink a warm cup in the morning at breakfast.
